Hatha Yoga involves moving the body into specific postures which have different benefits for the body and mind. Some people report better structural alignment of the spine and skeletal system, better balance, reduction of back, shoulder, and neck pain, better breathing capacity, better digestion, lower stress and anxiety, brighter mood, and better sleep patterns after practicing yoga. There are many styles of Hatha yoga. Some hold the postures in a steady pose while others styles link the postures together in a flow or "vinyasa". What separates yoga from exercise is the breath. Yoga infuses the physical practice with specific breathing creating a meditative experience. My classes are tailored to the needs of my students. Some classes are gentle others more challenging. I use props and adjustments so that all students regardless of limitations can participate.
Special Population Yoga
I have had many years of experience working with people living with different challenges. I have worked at many nursing homes, assisted living and independent living facilities. Some of my classes are designed for seniors who sit in chairs or wheelchairs. I have taught people with Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Huntington's, Arthritis, back issues, Joint and hip issues, MS, stroke, Fibromyalgia, and other conditions that require extra care.

Kundalini Yoga was brought to the United States by Yogi Bhajan in 1969. It combines a physical practice including postures and movement within postures, breath work, and meditation. The exercises are organized into "kriyas" .It is called the "yoga of awareness". This practice can be safety taught to all levels of student. I also offer Gong meditations from this tradition.
Doga-yoga for you and your dog. I developed this program for the Tampbay SPCA. It was taught there for several years. We even developed a Doga teacher certification program. I now offer Doga events at different venues in the area.
